Journaling through the Bible: Being Thankful

Where do we find thanks? We can find thanks in our faith in Jesus. We should be grateful for Christ Jesus. Be thankful for His divine nature, for His fulfillment of the prophecies from the Old Testament.

"He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the Kingdom of His beloved Son in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins." Colossians 1: 13-14

We can be thankful that our sins are forgiven.

Colossians 1: 13-14 quote

"And He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together." Colossians 1:17

We can be thankful that Jesus will help us stay together and love one another. We can help one another. We are better off when we are together.

Colossians 1:17 quote

From babies so small one wouldn't be able to think they could live and flourish to the great expanse of the blue heavens, God has created so much for us to be thankful for each day.

One of the things I am trying to overcome is seeing the glass as half empty, instead of half full. We often have occasions when we get water in our basement. When it rains too quickly, the drains and ground can't move the water efficiently so we get water. Never more than one to two inches at the most in some areas – never as much as some homes. I have been praying that I can see the blessings from God – that it is raining and there is no drought; that we do not get inches and inches of water ruining more in our basement; that our sump pump works, etc.

Where do we find thanks?

My Prayer

Dear God,

Please help me find thanks in everything. Common items are too often overlooked but yet they are so important for our day-to-day lives.

Please help me see the positives even in the negative occurrences that happen in my life.

Amen.

  2. It's so true, attitude and perspective can mean so much. I too try to find the goodness in all things.

  3. There are always things to be thankful for. I had an abusive childhood but thinking someone has to have it worse than me kept me going.
