Journaling Through the Bible: The Prodigal Son

This Journaling Through the Bible post is a little different because this past week I was inspired by a book I borrowed from my library.

Last year I added a book by Richard Paul Evans to my "to read" list at the recommendation of a friend. That book wasn't available at my library, so I picked up Lost December. It tells the story of Luke Crisp, the son of the Crisp Copy Center mogul of the story, and his journey from an aspiring student at Wharton to an employee at a retirement home. It offers a look at the parable of the Lost Son or the Prodigal Son from Luke.

There are many different definitions of prodigal - 1) spending money or resources freely and recklessly; wastefully extravagant; 2) having or giving something on a lavish scale; generous.

Like the Lost Son of the parable we were lost but have been found by Jesus. We can give generously of our time and talents as Luke did in Lost December.  We can celebrate those that were lost to us and have been found. It is a time to forgive and rejoice!

“‘My son,’ the father said, ‘you are always with me, and everything I have is yours. But we had to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’”

Luke 15: 31-32 NIV

    1. Yes...when I find time to sit down and draw and illustrate the verses, I find it very helpful and enjoyable.
